Choose one translated form or separate language forms

Use the current translation controls where they cover your needs. Separate forms remain an option when workflows genuinely differ.

Steps

  1. For one shared form, use Translate question and add the intended language for each question, description, and choice.
Add and review translations question by question. Check system messages and endings separately.
  2. Check system messages, consent wording, media, and endings separately. Test the selected Form language in Share.
Translate each choice as well as the question. This Spanish example was not saved; use Save only after reviewing your own translation.
  3. If you need separate forms, duplicate a validated source, translate each copy, and maintain its own logic and respondent link.
Review the system labels separately from question text and answer choices.
  4. Plan how results will be combined before distributing several language versions.

Check before you rely on it

Separate copies can drift apart. Record which version and language each shared link belongs to.

If you need help

Do not follow an old workaround that assumes there is no translation dialog in the builder.

Contact support with the relevant screen, time, and a redacted description. Keep credentials and private respondent information out of screenshots.
