Steps

  1. Add a Phone Number question, explain why you need the number, and indicate the expected country or international format in the wording.
Example country-prefix and number input. Preview is a layout check; saved answers, attachments, and completion require separate tests.
  2. In Question options, set Mark Optional according to whether you truly need an answer.
Current phone options from a synthetic development form. Review the controls offered for your selected question.
  3. Preview a valid number in the intended format, a number with a country prefix, invalid text, and a blank answer.
Check country-prefix behavior and the stored format separately using synthetic numbers.
  4. Check the stored value using synthetic data before using it in a contact workflow.

Check before you rely on it

A phone number answer does not prove ownership of the number or consent to receive marketing calls or messages.

If you need help

Do not use a Number question for contact numbers; leading zeros and formatting matter.

Contact support with the relevant screen, time, and a redacted description. Keep credentials and private respondent information out of screenshots.
