Steps

  1. In Design, add a Selection question and write a clear question and distinct choices.
Write distinct choices, then compare their wording with the respondent preview.
  2. Select the question and open Question options. Leave Mark Optional unchecked to require an answer. Enable Multiple Selections only when several choices are allowed.
Enable Multiple Selections when respondents may choose several answers. Keep required-answer behavior separate.
Checked means the question is optional. Uncheck Mark Optional when an answer is required.
  3. Review Horizontal Alignment and Randomize Ordering. Keep ordered scales in their intended order; do not randomize them casually.
  4. Preview an allowed answer, a blank answer, and multiple choices if enabled. Confirm the recorded answer in a synthetic response.
Check that a narrow respondent view presents every choice and the intended multiple-answer controls.

Check before you rely on it

Make choices mutually understandable. Add an appropriate “Other” or “None” choice yourself when the question needs one.

If you need help

Question Points and Correct answer are separate report controls. Do not assume a quiz score is configured just because the question has choices.

Contact support with the relevant screen, time, and a redacted description. Keep credentials and private respondent information out of screenshots.
