Explain scores as fractions and percentages

A raw score needs context. State the maximum possible score and calculate a percentage only when that denominator is meaningful.

Steps

  1. Write down the maximum achievable score from your current scoring rules, including any branches that change which questions are asked.
  2. Use a Number variable for the raw total. If the builder supports the calculation you need, use a separate variable for the displayed percentage.
A Number variable stores a starting value. Saved calculation rules determine how answers change it.
  3. For a ten-point quiz, a score of 7 means 7 out of 10, or 70%. Do not divide the raw score by 100 to obtain that percentage.
  4. Use the available recall controls to insert the score value into the question or result text. Add explanatory denominator text explicitly.
Choose a supported field from the recall picker rather than inventing a placeholder.
  5. Preview zero, partial, and full marks. Check rounding and any route with a different maximum.

Check before you rely on it

The maximum must never be zero when dividing. Weighted quizzes need their weighted maximum, not just the number of questions.

If you need help

The old screenshot-based fraction shortcut is not a reliable description of the current editor. Use an explicit label and a separately tested calculation.

Contact support with the relevant screen, time, and a redacted description. Keep credentials and private respondent information out of screenshots.
