Steps

  1. Open Design → Logic → Customize using data → Hidden Fields.
In Design, open Logic → Customize using data to find Hidden Fields and Variables.
  2. Choose + Add new field or a suggested field. Give each field a distinct, simple name.
Definitions identify the fields expected in the respondent URL. Supply harmless URL-encoded values when testing.
  3. Select Save to keep the definitions, or Cancel to discard the dialog’s changes.
  4. Reopen the dialog to check the saved names. Update distributed links and any dependent rules when renaming a field.
  5. Test both a populated link and an unpopulated link before publishing dependent logic.

Check before you rely on it

Removing a definition can break existing links or rules even though the form URL itself still opens. Review dependencies first.

If you need help

Do not remove fields from a live form just to troubleshoot missing values. Test a copy or a separate development form.

Contact support with the relevant screen, time, and a redacted description. Keep credentials and private respondent information out of screenshots.
