Track campaigns with UTM fields
UTM parameters label where a link was shared. They provide campaign context, not a verified identity or a complete analytics report.

Steps
- Choose a consistent naming scheme for utm_source, utm_medium, and utm_campaign; add other UTM fields only when needed.
- Define the fields you intend to capture under Logic → Customize using data → Hidden Fields and save them.
Definitions identify the fields expected in the respondent URL. Supply harmless URL-encoded values when testing. - Append URL-encoded UTM values to the copied respondent link while preserving its existing query parameters.
Use the current respondent URL rather than a builder URL. - Open one synthetic campaign link and complete a test response. Check the captured values in the intended output.
- Test your shortened link, embed, or redirect chain separately to ensure it preserves the parameters.
Check before you rely on it
For example, use source=newsletter, medium=email, and campaign=autumn_feedback as a naming plan, then use the corresponding utm_ field names in the actual link.
If you need help
UTM values can be changed by respondents. Avoid putting names or email addresses into campaign labels.
Contact support with the relevant screen, time, and a redacted description. Keep credentials and private respondent information out of screenshots.
